Protecting Remote Data

I’m happy with my Datacenter’s backup solution, but I also have REMOTE OFFICES I need to protect.

SOLUTION #1

ZERO1 Online Backup

ZERO1’s Online Backup service doesn’t need to replace your existing backup infrastructure. Many of our customers use it to supplement what they already own. Deploying and managing it is easy. Our client has all backup modules already built into it – so a single install is all that is necessary. This is very hand in situations where you have servers deployed to small offices pulling double (or even triple) duty – AD, SQL, Exchange, File/Print, etc. You can use one client to create multiple backupsets – each one running its own schedule backing up different types of data. Additionally, since remote offices tend to have slower Internet connections, you can take full advantage of our Internet-ready backup solutions. Page down on this webpage for more information on how our solution can be used for slower bandwidth situations.

SOLUTION #2

Local Backup Appliance

For customers that need the highest speed solution, we offer the ZERO1 Local Backup Appliance. Simply put, we install a ZERO1 server directly in your facility. This server self-replicates all of your backup data to the ZERO1 Datacenter for complete site-wide disaster recovery. In the event of a disaster, we pull your replica out of our datacenter and deliver it to where you need it. SOLUTION #1

ZERO1 Online Backup

ZERO1’s Online Backup service doesn’t need to replace your existing backup infrastructure. Many of our customers use it to supplement what they already own. Deploying and managing it is easy. End users can easily restore their own files when necessary. Less tech savvy end users can receive files restored from remote administrators. The remote admins can restore files via ZERO1’s web interface, then email/transfer the file to the user. Additionally, remote admins can use the web interface to configure, monitor, modify, etc. their remote user’s backupsets. The ZERO1 servers will send out daily reports via email with job stats, etc.

Speed Related Challenges

We have too much data to be backed up over the Internet. It will take too long…

SOLUTION #1

In-File Delta Backup

ZERO1 client agents are equipped with an In-File Delta block-level incremental / differential backup feature for reducing the backup window required during the backup of large data. With this feature enabled, only the changed portions within a file (i.e. changed data blocks) will be backed up. The size of the changed blocks is usually 5-10% of the original file, which makes each backup able to complete much quicker than a traditional full backup.

SOLUTION #2

Seed Loading

ZERO1 client agents provide a much faster alternative way to transfer large backup data (usually during the first backup job) onto ZERO1’s backup server without having to upload the data through the Internet. The backup would be written to an external USB hard drive. ZERO1 then pickups the hard drive from your facility, drives it to the ZERO1 datacenter, and transfers the data direct to the ZERO1 servers. Once complete, all future backups will be streamlined via ZERO1’s In-File Delta technology (see SOLUTION #1 to the left).

SOLUTION #3

Client Local Backup Option

With ZERO1, you can create backupsets that do NOT transfer offsite to the ZERO1 Datacenter. This is a great solution for non-production data, temporary data, or test data that is important enough to backup, but not critical enough to pay for offsite storage. You can write local backups to network-attached disk (NAS, UNC path, etc.), local hard drives, USB hard drives, etc. Additionally, you can create backupsets that write BOTH locally AND to ZERO1 – making ZERO1 your tertiary backup. An additional benefit of this scenario would be the speed of your restores – pull data from a local source versus over-the-Internet from ZERO1. And the best part is, we don’t charge extra for local backups – they are free!

SOLUTION #4

Seed Loading

ZERO1 client agents provide a much faster alternative way to transfer large backup data (usually during the first backup job, or during a mass restore) to/from ZERO1’s backup server without having to upload the data through the Internet. For a mass restore, your encrypted data can be copied to an external USB hard drive. ZERO1 then delivers the hard drive to your facility where you will decrypt and restore from it via the ZERO1 client.

SOLUTION #3

Local Backup Appliance

For customers that need the highest speed solution, we offer the ZERO1 Local Backup Appliance. Simply put, we install a ZERO1 server directly in your facility. This server self-replicates all of your backup data to the ZERO1 Datacenter for complete site-wide disaster recovery. 99.9% of your restores will be from this local appliance – at LAN speeds. For that unspeakable .1%, ZERO1 can pull your replica out of our datacenter and deliver it to where you need it. Security

ZERO1’s online backup solution has military grade encryption already built into it.
All online backup data that is sent to ZERO1 is encrypted prior to transmission. Meaning, it never leaves your facility unencrypted. Additionally, it remains encrypted when “at rest” on the ZERO1 servers.

When restoring data, your computers download the encrypted data first, then decrypt it locally.

Your data is 100% encrypted, 100% of the time.

Simply put, we couldn’t access your data – even if we wanted to! The ZERO1 Backup Client that you install on your computers encrypts the data with an encryption key that is generated via a passphrase YOU GENERATE when you configure a backupset. We cannot access the passphrase, we cannot change it, and unfortunately, we cannot recover it if it is lost. Meaning, if you are the only individual who knows the passphrase, and you win the lottery and retire, you had better leave the passphrase in the hands of your replacement because we won’t be able to assist in data recovery. Period.

General

If you are in the Chicagoland area, contact us and we would be happy to do a site visit. We will look at your system(s) and give you options. We are even available to install our client software and set up your backupsets.
This is what we do! ZERO1 exists as an offsite backup facility. We can accommodate tapes, external hard drives, spare computers, you name it! We also have a full staff and a fleet of vehicles to visit your facility as often as needed to pickup/drop-off.

Additionally, we also offer an automated online backup solution that can be configured to create backups for you locally and written offsite to ZERO1.

Kindly consider evaluating our solutions and services. ZERO1 offers a 30-day no cost or obligation trial. We do not require credit cards to get started, and we don’t automatically start billing you at the end of your 30-days. Simply tell us you want to keep the service, and we start billing you. If you don’t want the service, we simply remove your data. Easy.

And, honestly, if you need longer than 30-days to fully evaluate, it won’t be a problem….
